An easy way to increase the curb appeal of your home, as well as to add an additional layer of safety, is to install a low-voltage landscape lighting system at your home. Southern Elegance prides itself on the design and layout of an efficient yet practical lighting system. We use top of the line fixtures and transformers to create a unique look for your home. When installing landscape lighting, the “less is more” phrase describes how we create the look.
A key benefit to the type of system that we use is that it is low voltage. By tapping all of the lighting wires into a transformer, it changes the 120 volt outlet in your home to only 12 volts. Can you be shocked by 12 volts? Yes, but it is very minor and will not cause harm.
What type of lights do we use? Our main supplier for lighting is Unique Lighting Systems (www.uniquelighting.com). They supply us with a full line of weathered brass, copper and a few plastic lighting fixtures. Typically, the lights we use are broken down into several categories:
Spot Lights – a small spot light mounted on the ground that is used to focus on a particular area on the house.
Path Lights- Path lights are small fixtures mounted on the ground that help to illuminate areas along sidewalks or create accent areas in flower beds.
Up Lights – Also known as can lights, up lights are placed at the base of trees or the foundation of the house are used to either create a wash along the house or to light the canopy of a tree.
